2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon vs. Rubicon 392 Engines

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Rubicon 392 are both built to impress off-roaders. Which offers the better performance capabilities, though? The Rubicon is standard with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine and available with the 2.0L turbo I4 engine. Both engines have excellent fuel economy ratings and the best towing capacity available for the Wrangler — 5,000 pounds. If high-performance power is more of what you’re looking for, turn to the Wrangler Rubicon 392, which comes standard with the 6.4L HEMI V8 engine. You’ll achieve up to 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with the 6.4L HEMI V8, far surpassing the 3.6L Pentastar V6 and 2.0L turbo I4 performance capabilities.

2024 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 Drivetrain & Transmission Options

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler is packed with versatile performance capabilities. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is standard with six-speed manual transmission and offers an available eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 6.4L HEMI V8 and 2.0L turbo I4 are both standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

While all Jeep Wrangler engines come standard with 4x4, not all 4x4 systems are created the same. There are a few Wrangler 4x4 systems available — Command-Trac® part-time 4x4, full-time Selec-Trac® 4x4, full-time Rock-Trac® 4x4, and part-time Rock-Trac 4x4. The Command-Trac 4x4 comes with 2.72:1 low range for rock crawling and neutral for available flat towing. The Selec-Trac 4x4 system automatically makes the switch between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive when it detects pavement or rough terrain. The full-time Rock-Trac 4x4 system has a 4:1 low-gear ratio that offers a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio. If you choose the Wrangler Rubicon, it comes with a part-time Rock-Trac 4x4 so you can go on- or off-road as needed.
